ohio mild winter
Not sure what state you are thinking about. We have had a really mild one here in Ohio. Even our worst winters don't impact the deer that much. We never have too deep of snow or too cold of weather that they can not find plenty to eat. We have tremendous habitat for them. We have killed so many that the over-all heard has diminished. Just look at the kill figures. Now that the governor has put an Ag. person in the top DNR spot and he has brought in some more of his Ag people, deer numbers will continue to plummet. Promoting our wildlife and preserving our natural resources is a complete opposite of most farming philosophies. Not saying that there are not some farmers out there that promote wildlife, I have some buddies that are really into it and even belong to Pheasants Forever, Etc. But the wetlands and grasslands that we have been paying farmers to not drain and not plow for profit probably will go.
