I am a bit confused on the extension cable I need to reach the HDS-7 on the dash. I have the US-10 adapter cable but is only a foot or so long. What is the extension cable I need now to get the 10 feet or so to the dash?
I thought it was the US-11 but the connections in the picture looks wrong. Any help is appreciated. |

The cable you have is for a bow mounted GPS/Sonar. The short cable is always needed due to the fact that different GPS/Sonars require different cables to plug in to the cable coming off of your trolling motor. If you are able to locate a longer cable to match your HDS7 on the dash the short one will not be needed. Most boats use the US2 on the Bow mount trolling motor for a front unit. The unit on their dash runs off of the rear transducer. This would plug right in to the back of your GPS/Sonar.

Thanks for the leads--- I realize the short cord is for a bow mount but, it is only the adapter. I am looking for the extension off the adapter cord. I want to use it at the bow and the dash. There is no long adapter that I am aware of......
brmoffatt i don't believe that is the one but, I will check for sure. |

I am really surprised people don't move their units around depending on the weather like I do.
Anyways it looks like it is the 20' transducer extension---Lowrance 000-0099-94 XT-20BL 20-Feet 50/200kHz Transducer Extension Cable----- |

When a person has one on the dash and one on the bow that are hooked together with NMEA 2000 and an ethernet cable why would we want to move them around. I guess I don't follow what you are trying to say.

I don't run same brand units because---1)I am not a big network guy--want as wide a perspective as possible 2) I like a front reading depth and a back reading from the center of the boat when fishing breaks and contour trolling. 3) Back-up
I move screens around depending on the fish and current conditions. I assumed everybody did and I was wrong. I can see by the lack of info on a simple transducer extension that's the way the manufactures like it. Hard to move =sells more units. When i fish from the front I like a front reading but its useless if I am not in front. Very easy to move back and forth with ram mounts. I guess that is why. I cant be the only guy. Am I? |

Hey, Codeblue.
I, for one, get what you are saying. These units are expensive and that's one reason I've been asking around about my crazy idea. Well, I don't think it's crazy but I've gotten a lot of wierd looks. Here it is. I just bought an HDS 7 to go along with the LMS520C I have. I've been thinking, what if I have the HDS 7 installed with extra long power and transducer cables? Then, I could move the unit from the dash to the back or to the front all without having to turn it off. I know I'd have the cords to deal with but I would think I could get them to lay along the sidewall to keep it out of the way. This way, I don't need to buy another HDS unit for the back or front. On the dash, I want to use the LMS 520C for mapping and the HDS 7 for sonar, SS. I'm after the flexibility for less cost, I guess. But, like I said, I've gotten a lot of wierd looks. |

Different strokes for different folks. All that matters here is that you are happy. Hopefully we all catch fish with whatever methods we use. You have to be comfortable in your own rig. That is all that matters.
Have a good season, it will be here shortly. |
