Looking at getting a 2025 with a 250 pro xs. Just want to know some pros and cons of the boat. How does it handle on windy day? Pretty much all of my fishing is done on the Missouri River. Any information will help. Thanks

I have a 1975 w/ 225 v rod. Perform better than I expected. I doubt you have any complaints.

Pro's:
I think you will find the boat fishes very well, is designed to allow you to be versatile in your presentation options, and not have to shy away from a fishing presentation due to the boat design. Regardless if you are backtrolling, forward trolling, bottom bouncing, anchored, trolling with the wind, trolling against the wind, drifting, the boat is comfortable to fish from anywhere in the boat, with any presentation. The boat is also a very stable fishing platform. You will notice less listing to either side due to weight distribution or where anglers are located in the boat. The dash can accomodate up to 2 side by side 10" screens if so desired, behind either windshield of bubble. There is a great deal of storage, so much that you may have to plan out what you put where, and follow a disciplined approach. If you just start chucking things into the nearest storage compartement - well, it could take you some time to find it the next time your looking for it. I'm still getting used to not having to pack the boat and unpack it when I go fishing. I feel like I'm forgetting something when I hook up to the boat and realize I'm ready to go without having to carry things from the garage into the boat. It's all there, just have to put it in the water. It's made evening, during the week trips after work more convenient. I'll suggest getting a Hider for additional storage and rear platform space. I've found the hider fits 3700 Plano boxes well, and also extends the back deck for a bit more standing area. Construction - the ProV is a very solid, rigid feeling boat in any water conditions. Con: It's not going to ride as smooth as a glass boat in rough seas. That being said, I think you will find it will feel safe in pretty big water, even though you will navigate more slowly than Lund's fiberglass line, or some other glass boats. If your like most people - that's about 1% of the time spent in the boat. The Missouri River in SD can get whipped up from time to time, and have really short duration waves, if that's where you fish I'm sure you know what I'm trying to say. There are items that were improved in the model over the years, imo anything from a 2004 and newer has the majority of the nice features that were added over time. 2004 was a pretty big improvement year, with IPS II, gunnel cutout for the shifter area repositioning the driver's seat, and Pro Trak was right around that time as well. I'm running the Vrod, but I've been in the boat with a 250 Pro XS and it's an impressive motor. |
