After posting a few threads to get information on different boat makes and HP combinations I finally bit the bullet and ordered a 2012 Alumacraft 165 Sport with a 90 HP 4 stroke Yamaha. Can't wait for fishing season. Thanks to all for replying to my posts and helping me make this decision.

Congratulations on your purchase and I hope you spend an enormous amount of time in your new baby. I know it is a tough choice but not be happy you made it and start planning for all the accessories you will want to install. I am curious as to your choice of electronics? I am researching Lowrance vs. Hummingbird and am torn with this decision. My son has Lowrance HDS 8 and at least I would have him to tutor me.

I myself have the same problem, I am torn between Lowrance and Hummingbird, I will do more research, and also am depending on my son for his input.

Congrats on the new boat! I'm sold on the humminbirds (898c) from friends advice, using one in action, and my local dealer who sells both brands. The Humminbird just seemed more intuitive and easier to manage to me. The dealer told me he sells 3:1, even with Lorance's big rebates and price cuts.
Probably can't go wrong with either though.
