Default Showdown?

I used a showdown for just over two years. Got sucked into the low price. Get what you pay for I guess. I like the look of an lcr and the fact that you see a bit of "history" and that helps I think as far as assessing your jigging action and how fish react to it. However, within the first month of having my showdown the plastic frame broke. Sent it back. Also having problems with it no locking on to bottom. Another problem was how it dealt with interference from flashers. It just plain doesn't. Depending upon the bottom type I have to be so far away from other anglers that I might as well go fishing by myself! It has been back twice now to be fixed. Just plain gave up on it and have moved on. Got a used lowrance ice and also had same interference problem but not as bad. 55 Bird gets my vote. Might as well get it over the 45 because it come with the carry case included.

x2. The LX-7 is Marcum's latest wizbang unit however they are big so awkward to carry hole to hole and there sure have been a lot of software tweeks in its first year.

My LX-5 is easy to carry with outstanding performance.

I own vexilars and marcums and prefer the marcums hands down...Both brands are bullet proof and do the job but the marcum has the edge in power/performace as well as being made in the usa while the vexilars are made over seas.......

I've run both and prefer the Marcum (I have a LX-3 with the true color upgrade). I've loaned my Marcum out to some co-workers that were going to LOTW and, even though they had a couple of vexilars in the group, they preferred the Marcum as well.

The Marcum is queter, I know that. Seems to have really good target separation and less "flicker".

Just my opinion...

Scott

You must not get around then. There right here in Mn just like Marcum. I've owned 3 Marcums and still own 2, but I've owned Vex's as well. I have replaced a transducer on both my LX5 and my old LX3, but the wifes VX1Pro has been fine. I prefer the Truecolor and crispness of the Marcum over any Vex, but they sure don't make me catch more fish. It's all preference when it comes to flashers.

Per the link that I provided earlier, above a few posts, in this thread.

YES to answer your question.

Components are made in the US, China and Japan. All Vexilar units are assembled and tested in the USA (Bloomington, MN).
