Anyone ever fished the Lake Michigan side of Door in August? Have a chance to go up there in August and was wondering if the Lake side is as good as the bay side? How is the water condition in this area? Typically rough?
Whats up there? can I expect smallmouth and walleye? Yes? Thanks.... Nick |

You'll find the Chinnok Salamon run going on then. Some fish up to 25# can be caught trolling spoons. Small mouths can be found but you would do better in the Bay for them along with the Walleyes.

You are correct. The Chalmers area can be very good for large walleyes that time of year but numbers you won't get. Small mouths all along the Fish Creek, Sister Bay area and all the Shoals over there.

Yup...I fished that area before.....that's why I like it.....Might have to just put in over there and fish that area instead a few days. hard to pass up some of that SM action. Was hoping for some Eyes too. well maybe I can head North a bit and fish there....
Where exactly is the Chalmers area? Thanks...N Last edited by nicko; 03-12-2012 at 02:31 PM. |

Salmon fishing is the big thing up there. You might also try Rowley bay for the bass and also Kangaroo lake....always wanted to try inside bay of Washington island for smallies, but we are up there for the salmon. Will be up there the second week of July.

Sounds good.....Looks like the plan is to fish lake side for salmon and run to bay for walleye and SM.......I guess i'll have to "Suffer" through that....Thanks guys.....
