that's good advice to keep in mind rew. in all honesty, i think i'd be fine with it the way it is. as long as it runs well.. i wouldn't say i'm planning anything at this point, but i wouldn't rule it out.
while we're on the motor topic, i have a question.. can you connect an 04 honda motor to a computer to verify the hours? or is that too early of a model year to do that? |

looked at it tonight after work. pretty disappointing honestly. it was described as "like new"... the only thing like new was under the cover on the motor. he couldn't remember if it was run last year or not. who knows, that thing could have all kinds of issues. the motor was clean under the cover, can't say the same for the rest. first thing i noticed was all the dings and scratches down both sides. some were 2 feet long. the older gentleman that owned it clipped the dock fairly regularly i'd say and i'm guessing he wasn't too cautious about hitting things. the inside was worse. he claimed it was always garaged, but i'm thinking it was only garaged in the off season. the interior was really weathered. stains on the floor and carpeted sides. i opened the hatch to the in-floor storage and it was all black with mold and mildew inside. nasty. the consoles where so sun bleached they were a weird yellow color instead of the white/off white they're supposed to be. this thing just spent way too much time exposed to the elements. just wasn't taken care of. i didn't even make him an offer on it, i didn't want it. no way that boat is worth 15k. what a shame. i'm disappointed.. i was excited about this. oh well, the search continues.

Yeah I know the feeling, sugar plums dancin' then it turns out to be prunes. But have learned there is a great deal out there waiting for you, just a little more shopping.
Good luck for the next one! |

Hope you didn't have too long a trip to see it. Once did a 12 hour round trip to see a boat which the owner had sent some very nice pictures. Just happened not to send pictures of the port side, which has about 10 feet of dock rash!

eesh.. now i don't feel so bad. i didn't go too far to see it, about 45 minutes so no big deal. the guy said he had another buyer from syracuse who wanted to come get it right away, but who knows. if someone wants to give him 15k for that thing, be my guest. he called and left a vm this morning saying he'd like to see the boat stay in the area. honestly, i wouldn't be willing to give him what he wants for it. granted most of it could clean up ok, but the yellow sun bleached consoles would drive me crazy. i'd have to paint em. i won't spend that kinda $ on something i have to put that much work into.

The fact he said like new would cause me to run for hills. There was lund 20foot tyee local seller stated like new used 4 times year, I could not get over 1 inch dirt on seats. It sold to some sucker bet it needs lots time effort to bring it new condition.

yeah. like i said, i wouldn't be willing to give him what he wants for it. i'd give him 10k at the most and i'm sure he wouldn't take that.
