Bow Rail Length

I am in the process of researching rails for my Yarcraft 209. I was thinking about the 44 inch and that seems short when you put a tape measure to that lenght on the bow. I was thinking of making them 60-72 inches. For those of you that have bow rails, what lenght do you have? Would you make them longer or shorter?
