Is the Curado worth the extra money over the citica for an all around reel.

If you're just bottom bouncing or trolling the Citica is fine. If you are casting or just wanting a "slightly" smoother reel then get the Curado. I've got both and there really isn't a huge difference in them.

You are talking about which Citicas and Curados? The E series or the G series? |

Mine are about five and seven years old so I really don't know which series they are. Both models (two of each) just keep fishing and holding up well. I spend thirty full days a year on the water so they do get used.
All the reels get torn down, cleaned and serviced after the season. They are showing their age cosmetically, but function as well as when new. I did replace the drag washers this winter on all four reels with the Carbonex drag washers. The original drags were getting a little grabby on the Curados. Hoping that cures that little problem. Salesman I've talked to say to get a reel that is equivalent to the older Curados I would need to go to the Chronarch series. New reels would be nice, but I doubt they would make fishing any more enjoyable. There are a lot more choices in good reels on the market from all manufactures now than when these were purchased years ago. Back then it was an easy choice. Pooch

Depends on personal preference. I'll say worth it. Bigger handle knob grips. A bearing supported drive shaft. A slightly lighter weight spool. The E series Curado had a brass pin VBS vs a plastic one on the Citica. Not sure what's in the current G series. Also personally not to keen on the two tone paint job.

E series Curado is the nicest baitcaster I've ever laid hands on...I own two. I had to hunt around for the second one because the G series came out and they cheapened it up some with more plastic. The G series may be a fine real but I just preferred the earlier version. I have no experience with the Citica although I am pretty confident with Shimano products in all price ranges.
