Default MN requires invasive species sticker

Sorry if this has been hashed out here before, but it was news to me. MN will require an invasive species sticker on all watercraft - yup, even your canoe and paddleboat - this year.

You have 3 years before they will start to ticket for that. they are supposed to be mailed with your registration.

No fines will be issued until Aug 2014 related to this requirement.

It is basically a process to assure - "you knew about AIS"...

Removing the excuse - I didn't know...

You guys shouldn't complain about the AIS effort in Minnesota. Look what has already happened in your state!

That is a good thing, too many swimmers at Pepin anyway, jet skiers, not to mention those sailboat clowns who need to be swamped...

Whats dumb dumb dumb is the simple fact that people cant use two seconds of common sense and clean out livewells and weeds off of boats.

Unfortunately it one clown to spread the invasive plagues.

I'm assuming that MN will be like Idaho, where out-of-state boaters are required to buy this sticker. If the money raised is used for invasive species control, I don't mind. My big concern is my boat will be a "Typhoid Mary" and some larval stage will come home with me to infect my home lake.

I agree with you on that. But the $ 250 to 300,000 that the DNR spent printing this sticker when they say they will be broke in a year sure could have been better spent on fighting invasive species than a sticker that you can put anywhere in your boat. Inside the rod locker, under the livewell lid, under the battery tray. They don!t care where as long as its in the boat somewhere. Thats really gonna take care of the zeebs. Wiredog

No money raised, only spent. The DNR gives them away free. Wiredog
