Default tm batteries in series and charging?

New boat and new setup. I'll have two deep cycles wired in series. Can I just hook the charger leads to each battery and charge as normal or do I need to unhook the jumper between the two batts first?
Thanks

I hook up my on board charger leads to each TM battery and don't unhook anything.
My third lead is to my starter battery and accessory battery which are wired in parallel and connected by a jumper with a dissconect plug to isolate them quickly if desired.

Same with mine, 3-bank charger with leads to each battery. I assume this is a 24v trolling motor setup. If so, run the leads to each battery and no need to disconnect jumper wire. However, I would recommend unplugging your trolling motor while charging. Especially if you have the i-pilot. Gotta love setting up your new boat!

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping it would work like that. My old boat had two seperate leads running to the trolling motor plug.

PC,
Another simple option is to use one 24 volt battery charger that you connect to the + and - terminal of the 24 volt battery.

Connect 1 bank of charger to 1 battery and you don't have to disconnect anything. This is directly from the Minn Kota web site (all new chargers would work the same way)

Do I need to disconnect the 24-volt connection when using Minn Kota chargers?
No, the jumpers can remain in place. The same holds true for a 36V connection.

Thanks guys.

24v setup to ipilot terrova and I have always unplugged the tm when charging. It's a lot of work rigging an entire boat, but I'd rather do it than pay someone to. Plus this way, it's done the way I want.

Just picked it up last week - Alumacraft Trophy 195, pro xs 175 . My first brand new boat. With two little kids I needed the security of the high sides.

This site is awesome for a guy with mild OCD. I tend to get into things a little deep. Guess I'm preaching to the choir. Do we really need to spend umpteen thousands to catch a fish???? YES

PC,
Do we need to spend $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to catch fish?
Of course not.

Do we need to spend $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to be able to put a smile on our face and those of family and friends now and then? You bet!!
