Is a 135 Optimax enought to power a 1800 fisherman. Looking at this rig. It is a 2003. I believe capacity is 175 so it seems a little under powered to me. Boat will be ran at about 4000 feet elevation.

Owned a 2004 1800 with a 135 Opti and loved it. Quick onto plane and ran in low 40's consistantly. The 135 is pretty strong. Having said that, all my time was in Iowa and Canada and probably 1000 - 1500 feet. Don't have experience with your altitude but understand that can soak of some of the HP. Maybe someone with experience at that height will chime in.

I have a 1700 fisherman and have a 150 on it, but I like boats that are not under powered, my father has a 1775 pro v with a 125 on it and most of the time its fine but when you get 3 people and gear takes a little longer to plain out correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the 135 and 150 are the same block at your altitude if its anything like my snowmobile more horse power is better in altitude.

MannieR- depends on what your expectations are. A 135 should be fine if your ok with low 40's mph and not pulling skiers/tubers. The 4000ft might cost you some power as well, dunno I'm spoiled at 640ft
. I would personally hold out for a 150 but that's my opinion. I have a 2006 1800 that I repowered with a 150 from a 115. IMO the 115 was a pig on that boat.

I have an '06, 1800 fisherman with a 135 Verado - like the others, up on plane quickly, mid to high 40's depending on load and water conditions. I can have 4 aboard and pull a large 2 man tube no issues - but I am in Michigan too.
