Default Home Grown Tackle:The Lindy Rig Part 2

Not sure if it's "sticky-worthy", but I created the attached guide for folks visiting my blog who needed some of the basics on using "Lindy" or live bait rigs.

Good idea to add to the article. Sinker weight should be dependent upon wind conditions and how vertical you prefer to fish.

Another thing that I add to my lindy set ups is a quick change clevis for the weight to attach to. This way it still slides and can be changed very easily if more or less weight is needed.

It really cuts down time if you are a tourney fisherman that doesn't want to be wasting any time while out on the lake.

What do you use for a quick change clevis? I've been wanting to do this also. The quick change clevis' that I come up with are a black plastic tube with a snap hanging in the middle. They work great for fishing large catfish but they are huge. I was hoping to find something a little smaller. I was thinking of just letting a snap ride down my line with a walking sinker but that holds the sinker 90 degrees from the line....not exactly how that sinker was designed to be used.
I may just use a snap swivel with a solid ring....that should let the walking sinker fall in line.

Locomoto, I use a snap/swivel on the line (main line through the swivel). The swivel can be tiny, and the snap only needs to be large enough to go through the walking sinker and allow you to close it. Cheap works fine here, you don't need strength. I use a duolock on a very small barrel swivel. The sinker can both slide on the line and turn at will to run properly.

Thanks Jay...that's what I was hoping to hear. Sometimes I tend to over think things and get stumped.

Another option if you are using a walking sinker is to clip one side of the sinker eye where you can bend the eye up and slide the line through. That way all you have to do is bend the eye open to remove the line then bend it back down.
