My personal view on leaving the draw bar installed all the time is this: I install the draw bar when I hook up my trailer and remove it when I am finished towing the trailer. I think that is the responsible thing to do.

However, when I go on extended fishing trips and will be towing my trailer every day I leave the draw bar installed 24/7. I leave it in then simply because of laziness when I would have to mess with it every day.

We don't need a law on this matter.

Jack

Thumbs down

Sure... the auto insurance companiies will like this idea because it will save damage when their bad driver rear ends somebody who has a hitch

But on the "safety" side of this .....Ya know... experience is what teaches us what hurts or is dangerous and what is not.
Bumps and bruises contribute to building a decent IQ
At our present rate... soon good sense will be legislated right out of everybody.

Grrrrrrrrrr

Default Unreal

Simply unreal.... Who thinks this stuff up?

I whacked my shin once or maybe twice and lesson was taught to it's fullest. I can still recall that pain!

But a law? Seriously? I find this hard to believe. Another brilliant citidiot idea? Would love to know the origin of this one....

And one more thing, another simple freedom GONE! Just one more reason for the revenue generators to intrude into YOUR life....

Another sad (small) chapter in US history.....

At the Federal level, far less than 10% of all House or Senate bills actually become law. State legislatures probably aren't much different. Bet this particular Michigan House bill goes nowhere.

Most likely, the bill's sponsor either barked his shin on a hitch or rear-ended a pickup truck and trashed his nice, new Detroit-built, taxpayer-purchased limo.

With all these posts I'm surprised I haven't seen a request for some background on this proposed legislation. I've looked around and have come up with zip. Anybody have some sources? In particular, info that led the congressman to propose this in the first place.

Default Trailer Hitch

The. City i live in has (Kingston Ont) has a bylaw that says we are to remove our receiver from the vehicle or $130 fine...seriously??? I take my chances because i too have been rear ended and it also keeps people away from my truck. Why dont they focus on the guy that stole my TV instead of this stuff...stay away from my vehicle and we have no problems

This is it.

Everything else is perfect in Michigan.

No financial problems, no crime problems, zero unemployment, no large southeastern city sucking the life and resources out of the state.

Fishing hooks should be required to be removed from crankbaits when the bait is not being used.....someone could get hurt.

REW

Speak for yourself.............mine is rusted in and is never coming out. Sometimes they get used more than not. Doesn't make sense to take it out only to turn around the next morning to put it back in.
Mine has been rusted in for several years now. It's part of the truck........forever. Maybe they should create a hitch that doesn't rust..... Hmmmmmm........

What is a "drawbar"?

Thanks,
