Okay, Sears did't actually make the OB. It's likey an Eska or Clinton. It you can determine the actual manufacturer, it'a a really good first step to solving your problem.

..because with Sears they often get mixed up between Sears Model number and the motor serial number. I have model listings and a very general shop manual from around 1960-1978 and none look like yours. Early ones are 5 digits, usually starting with a 5. Newer ones have a long number with a decimal point in the middle after the 4th-5th digit. If your motor is newer than 1978 then I can't help too much. Over the years Sears used around 8 different manufacturers to make their motors, and they often changed makers from year to year. I had a 1951 7.5 hp Sears Elgin, green top, 1 bbl Holley carb with a real glass float bowl. The motor was built by West Bend, who had been bought by Chrysler, later Force, later bought by Merc. If Sears didn't list the part as available, I'd go to the current dealer. Later years 7.5 hp were both Clinton and Eska as Phil T posts. If yours is an Eska- the powerhead itself is actually an air-cooled Tecumseh Power Products engine- and manuals should be available.
See if you can find any more numbers on the engine. Doug |

go see if I can find any other identifying numbers. If you want to shift our exchanges over to email, I am at - raysteckman@cox.net... Thanks |
