Too lazy to dig around and find my password so I will just ask it as an anonymous poster..........
I just picked up some slow death hooks to monkey around with. The appraoch looks interesting - and I see good results that other guys have had with them. My question to you guys that have used this method a lot..... Have you had any results as far as big fish with it? I tend to pull a lot of crank baits and bottom bouncer/spinner/crawlers and have a lot of confidence in putting big fish in the boat with those methods, so this new method has me curious....... Anybody hanging any hawgs with the slow death rigs? Anon. |

I found them to work well in post frontal conditions; nothing too fast or fancy, maybe just 1 bead ahead of the hook.
They also produced well up on LOTW on a deep water bite using 3" florescent pink worms. Orange worked too, but not as well as the pink. And no, I am not joking! It works!

Today was the first time I really used them, but I bought the new Matuzo bait rollers, to my with them sitting next to a Slow Death Hook the bends seem to be a bit bigger.
I had one chartuse bead in front of the hook, I was pulling a single rig through places were boats had 2-4 lines out pulling regular harness's and I would get a hook up and they would be lucky to have one out of 4 rigs. I was using a whole crawler and trolling faster than what they say to do @ 1.5mph. I do not know if that was the true difference or not. Water temps were 62-64 degrees. |

I started using them last year and have put some decent fish in the boat with them. Mind you decent in KS is 5-6lbs+ (at least to me). There have been days where it seemed to be the preference of the smaller fish and the larger fish wanted the spinner harness, but overall its a constant contributor to the fish numbers.

were those 3" florescent pink worms a Gulp worm? Or simple plastic?

Leeches have been working well with the slow death rigs also.

In addition, lots of folks have been using very larger spinners in front of the slow death hooks to give a secondary pulse to the fish.
Try it both ways and use the method that works best for the fish and depth that you are targeting. REW |

I bought some #2 hooks last week haven't tried them yet. How do you hook a leech on it? thread it on like a crawler? I have a pound of leeches, I need to go night crawler hunting. I'm not paying $2.50 - $3.00 per dozen for crawlers.
