Default Lowrance Structure Scan Help

I putting in the new unit now and have a question. Will the scan transducer give me a depth reading on the unit? What I'm wanting to do is be able the read the depth in the front and back at the same time. By putting the transducer on the bow mount and the scan unit on the rear. Will they work at the same time if I split screen 2 sonars. Thanks

Yes it will work. You dont even need a split screen. You will have 2 different depth "options" for data overlays. The sonar "depth" data is taken from the 2D transducers on the network. This would include your transducer on your bowmount if that is the one you have selected. "Structure Depth" is the depth data from the LSS-1 transducer and is available as an overlay independent from sonar "depth".

It is a HDS7 gen2. I'm trying to figure out where to put the big puck at now. Will it hurt to mount it to the step on the 619 ranger? It will be higher than the transducer from the dash. Not a lot room for that big thing. Are they sensitive to prop wash from the kicker? (Port side) Thanks for help.

I have it all hooked up now and took it out on the water but it keeps saying no source found on the structure scan page. Any idea what is wrong? I hoping it is just a setting.

What lights are you getting on your LSS-1 module? Are you getting power to it and do you have the yellow control wire connected to either a switched power source or the yellow wake up wire coming from your HDS? Sounds to me like you may need to check "all" the connections at your LSS-1 for starters!

Is your LSS unit turning on? My HDS8 says that when I first turn it on then a little while longer the LSS unit turns on.

If your using your HDS unit to turn it on with the yellow wire did you connect it to the yellow wire in the HDS units power cable or the yellow in the Other bunch of wires which I think goes to radar or external GPS antenna.

I put the yellow wire from the LSS1 unit to the same power terminal as the red wire. It will just be hot all the time when I turn on my main breaker.

The answer to these questions is Yes. This will work.

As for mounting location on your Ranger, the understep should work fine as long as you have clearance for the side beams. A picture of your mounting location would help. I have my LSS-2 transducer mounted on the understep and had to position it a little further back than I wanted, due to concerns about the side scan beam. I couldn't do a Jack plate mount on my boat with this larger transducer.

As for your "no source" signal, this can be a number of things. Have you tried to move the ethernet cable to the other 2 ports ? I've seen one port on modules be faulty and the other 2 work fine. Have you double-checked your connectors to make sure they are "locked" in firmly? Was the LSS-1 transducer connected to the LSS-1 module when you received this error message?

I've seen faulty ethernet cables right out of the box. Do you have a buddy with a spare cable he can loan you to test it?

Thanks for the post Brian. I'm going to recheck everything on thursday night when i have a few minutes. Is it ok to have both power wires on the same switch like I have it?
