Reading the post about trailering with covers on and off prompted me to ask something I've been wondering about for a long time. Do you leave your electronics (I'm not talking about the units that are "permanently" mounted in the dash, etc) hooked up ALL the time, or do you remove them at the end of the day?
Personally, when it's not going directly back into the garage, my boat comes INTO my night's location already covered and electronics removed. I do that at the boat landing to avoid prying eyes as much as possible.

If I am at a resort or the like, yes mine come out.

No Mine are left in the boat. I am able to snap my cover on every night while at resorts. Then it is in my garage after local trips.

Lunker,
After a couple of bad experiences, I never leave anything on the boat of a fishing nature. i.e. I remove all rods, reels, tackle and electronics each night - no matter where I am or am doing. As the saying goes, first event is an error. 2nd event is my mistake. So, I don't want to be ever burned again and have not been burned again, by always removing everything from the boat. But, in the same vein, I have learned over the years to be quite selective about what I will put in the boat for a days fishing. I tend to plan the day for fishing a certain area, for certain fish and pack tackle and rods and reels accordingly. I leave the rest of the stuff at home or in the tow vehicle locked up. REW |

I have two Humminbird 788ci and I remove them when I'm done fishing and either put them in the truck or take them inside when I'm home. The quick disconnect makes it pretty easy to take them out.

I empty my boat. Don't tempt otherwise honest people.

I always remove and mount mine at the launch/dock/set up area - - - -not a lot of suspension on the trailers and electronics are not cheap - couple of turns of cables nuts (gently) and mounted on Rams - in the tow vehicle they go - in their own soft sided case too.

I remove my Lowrance each time and put it away in garage or put in truck
Same is true of my fishing rods and tackle bags

If it's going back in my garage, I leave everything in it and hooked up. But if I'm on the road somewhere staying overnight, I put it all in the truck. A must on my next boat is lockable rod storage, because it would be nice to have the half dozen rods I use most often on the boat all the time and not have to pack/unpack every time.

Anyone find electronics cases that will accomodate the ram mount ball and johhny ray thingy that is attached to the bottom of the fish finder?
The hbird knobs on the mounting bracket are too small to turn without hurting the hands and the cases seem to be too small for the 10" screen versions of fish finders.
