The battery meter on my trolling motor will read at 4 lights but when I plug it in the on board charger, the charger will show as little as 30%
What is going on and why is there so much difference? It is a 80lb terrova with iPilot and US2. |

Well....if you know your batteries are in good shape i would not even worry. In all honesty i don't even check my meter while fishing . I have good batteries and charge then up after an outing. I do seem to remember that you had to have the motor off to use the meter right??

I like to watch my battery level when I am camping for the weekend without electricity.

I have a similar voltmeter and it's been really good. I wonder if the battery status on the trolling motor reads higher because the charger is sending so much juice to the batteries, the TM thinks their full...????

Mine does the same thing. I have a Dual Pro charger and after 5-6 hours of mid-heavy use the indicators on the charger show 30% at start up. I've thought about taking the time to figure out which one is right but haven't done it yet. I bring the boat in and charge after every use anyways so it really doesn't matter that much. If I were to do trips where I couldn't or didn't want to pull the boat out and charge I'd look into it deeper though.

Really just guessing here but I think that the charger is just going through a equalize/float stage and after a bit of time will actually stabilize in the float mode and all will be good.
