Default Trailer Brakes locking

Hi guys I'm hoping to get some advise as to why my rear right wheel is locking after I launch my boat. I have a tandem axle trailer with surge brakes, upon returning to my truck and trailer after a full day on the water my rear right wheel brakes are locking. It's the only wheel thats locking up. After putting the truck in reverse and moving back and forth in the parking lot the wheel unlocks and there seems to be fine for the trip home, I have no more problems until the next fishing trip when I return to get the trailer.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Striper,
Remove clean, lubricate and reassmble the surge assembly on the front of the trailer.

Also, make sure that after parking the trailer that you ALWAYS give a little forward jerk to the trailer to be sure that the surge assembly has moved to its forward positon to unlock the brakes.

If you continue to find this problem, then remove and replace the caliper on that side of the trailer, since it is likely hanging up a bit. Also, clean and relube the caliper sliding bolts on the brake assembly. When doing this, the sliding caliper bolts should be polished to be sure that there is not a spec of rust on the slider bolts.

Rew thanks for the reply. I will certainly take a good look at the surge assembly on the front of the trailer to make sure its clean and working properly it made very well be the problem. Thats a great start along with making sure to try to release the surge braking sistem after launching. On my trailer I have the drum type brakes, I'll check the wheel sealindure and hardware for that wheel.
Thanks your reply helps a lot.

I had a similar situation, it was the reverse solenoid going/gone bad. I should have noticed it sooner as I was not getting the full pull/thump of the surge brake while comming to a stop sign and then accellerating. It all came to a head when I could not back my trailer down the ramp. Replaced with a manual valve for the time being until I decide to go back to the electric solenoid.
