I just downloaded the 1989 Crestliner catalog, trying to find the hull specs for an "Angler", and that model is not shown. Any idea what length/beam/weight it is?

The only "Nisswa" named boat I could find is a mid-80' Lund fiberglass model.

Anyway, what kind of maximum rpms is he turning with that 12" prop? I went thru a similiar exercise some years ago with a 60hp 4S on a 17' Lund, and had to drop down to an 11" pitch prop in order to get the boat to plane decently with 3 guys. But, I had to watch the rpms, since I could bump-off the rev limiter.

Your uncle might want to try the new Mercury Spitfire 4-blade prop, they seem to have a faster holeshot compared to a comparable pitch aluminum.

Default HRG - maybe you can help

I have a 1675 Lund Explorer Tiller w/a 60HP Merc 4-stroke. Not sure of the current pitch, but have been working w/ Propman to get the appropriate 4 blade Spitfire/Quicksilver prop. You said you needed an 11 pitch for your boat. I run mainly w/ 2 guys, secondarly by myself and a few times w/ 3.

I was thinking a 12 or 13 would make more sense for me. Do you have anything to add?

Thanks,

If ability to get on plane is more important than top end, I'd go with the 12". Your 1675 is roughly 100# lighter than the hull I had, I also did not have a bow mount TM (weight forward). If you tend to run "light", the 13" will keep the WOT rpms under control.

Really kind of a coin flip.

HRG - thanks for the info. Top end right now is 29-32. Not great, but eeking 1mph out of the boat on a 1500 acre lake may never be noticable. I think I am more interested in holeshot. I do pull the occasional tube as well.

Would like to put a 75HP on it, but the difference in cost isn't something I want to absorb.

I have a F60 Tiller on a 17 1/2 foot Crestliner Viking. After putting the new motor on I had problems with hole shot also.
I went to see Propman in Brainerd and he sold me a Quicksilver Aluminum 4 Blade Nemesis Prop 10.6 diameter with a 12 Pitch and I was amazed how much it improved my hole shot and overall performance. It's an expensive aluminum prop but I thought it was well worth it. You should talk to Propman. Not sure where your located but I do know that he can ship you one. Good Luck, Jim

JiMinneye, I just put the same prop on my f60. Does your spitfire prop seem to have a lot of play forewords and back on the shaft. Mine has lots of play. Just too see I tried my prop on a mercury 60 and it had the same loose fit so I was satisfied thats how the new spitfires fit. Was just curious as to how your prop was? Just put it on so haven't tried it out yet, can't wait. Thanks Tim.
