I was pondering some of the signiture lines that folk on WC use. One liners that are famous quotes, ideas, beliefs etc. Do they appear as "truths", in other words not up for debate? I notice a few that might be considered political, and others that have a religous bent. I suppose the poster has found something enlightening about the quote, but my question is if it is posted do we have the "duty" to challenge it if we feel differently? One line that had me thinking this was "The Ark was built by amateurs. The Titanic was built by professionals....'nuf said!" Maybe it was the "'nuf said", and not to pick on the poster but this was like waving a red flag at a bull. Nuf said? How about saying the ark is a fairy tale, the Titanic was real.....but then who wants to start a religous debate. So the question is "what is the status of these one liners, and should they appear if they can't be challenged?? Any thoughts?

I don't really care about a persons politics or religion. And I don't feel the need to push my views on others. I come here for a positive experience not for political/religious debate. There's rules here and when I see people who know the rules try to circumvent them I'll call them out on it. Maybe I'm wrong in doing so. Don't know. 9 times out of 10 they end up on my ignore list anyway so, problem solved. When it gets to the point I don't enjoy coming here that's easily solved, too.

If somebodies signature line bothers you, go into your User CP and add them to your "ignore" list. Problem solved.
Of course, if enough people send an alert to the Mods, they'll vote on it, and adjust if necessary. HRG

Can't say that any bother me that much, but the idea that a signiture line should not be challenged is interesting.
