Default transducer mounting for a second graph

shortly I'm going to add a new graph to my 16' aluminum tiller boat. I currently have a hbird matrix 12 with a transom mounted 200khz transducer. The new graph i'm looking to get is the hbird 597ci hi which apparently has a 200/83khz ducer. Would I be able to mount the new transducer next to the old one and not have any interference? Or would it be feasable to make a board that I could clamp and hang off the bow somehow which is where I would like to move the old graph to?

Default Bow Mount Trolling Motor?

Do you have a bow mount trolling motor? If so you can mount your old transducer to the trolling motor with a trolling motor bracket from Humminbird.

Zack,
Just leave your current transducer mounted on one side of the boat.
Then take the new transducer and mount it on the other side of the transom.

That is how I mounted my transducers and many of my friends have done the same thing.

You may or may not have interference problems with both units running on 200khz, but you will not have problems if one unit is on 83 and the other is on 200 - UNLESS - the 200KHZ transducer for the dual unit is still active when reading the 83khz information. It is my understanding that some of the dual unit depth finders of today do leave both transducers active when only reading one. If your new unit is one of these; then you will need to turn off one unit when using the other unit.

Good luck

Thanks rew,my ducer for my current graph is on the opposite side of my transom trolling motor. Will mounting the new units ducer on the same side as my trolling motor(30lb 12v) cause a lot of interference?

Probably not.
The only way to know for sure is to try it.

Mount the transducer to a 1x4. Clamp the board to the transom with a C clamp in the location where you will mount it permanently. Then, take the boat out for an outing and check for proper operation of both depth finders.

If all is well, make the mount permanent.
