I have a 2004 619 with 200 hpdi. I currently run a 21p Yamaha prop and I think it is junk. It won't bite high in the water and the rough water ride sucks. I can't trim high enough and throw a nice rooster without breaking loose and loosing a lot of speed.
Research has lead me to the bravo xs. Sounds like it is designed to run atleast a pitch higher then a tempest. Should I go with a 22 pitch? I think I could turn a 21 tempest fine. |

I get 5400 ish before it breaks loose when trimming and I start to lose speed. In order to shoot a rooster tail it's running 5800ish and I lose 3+ MPH off my top end. I dont like to run the motor at any higher or RPM so I've never tried to go any higher. The boat is a 2004 Ranger 619 with 200 HPDI & T8 kicker. With 2 guys, full gas, full livewells, and storage compartments full I get about 52 MPH gps. To be honest top end isn't my biggest concern but I think I can do better. I want something that will make the boat ride a lot better in rough water on those windy days. |

Also do the merc racing props use the flo torque hub like the normal merc props? I'd obviouly need a Yamaha hub kit. The merc racing site just says it was designed for Optimax, Optimax XS, and Pro XS but doesn't mention a hub kit at all.

...with numerous kits listed at the Mercury Parts Express web site. I suggest you just call Merc Racing as follows:

I am also curious if anyone has ran the Bravo I 4 blade on a 619 w/ 200hp and how it performed? I have the same combo as above and I have struggled to find the right prop for this setup.
Also BigGameBalls, which yamaha prop are you running on your boat? With all the different props I have run, anytime I start shooting a rooster over a few feet high I am trading speed for higher rpms. Last edited by p0007; 06-18-2012 at 10:26 AM. |

I ran a 21P yam sws 2 and I really liked how the boat performed. however, after I added a kicker, new terrova, and upgraded to 31series batt's, I was struggling to keep my rpms up higher.
I tried- ofs 3 & 4 blades, tempest 19 & 21, rev 4 19p, yamaha 21M and yamaha sws 2 19p. They all had tradeoffs. I eventually went with a 21p tempest and sent it in to have some cupping added. It helped quite a bit, I actually still have a bit of a porpoise, but I have been adjusting the height on the manual jackplate and I am hopefully getting close. Do you have a jackplate? |

No jack plate. I dont have any problem at all porpoising. I just want something that bites better in the big waves so the boat slices through them or glides over them better. My little brother swears I should run a high 5 but I've heard the reverse is horrible on those props. Plus I dont ever like to do what my little brother says! ![]() By the way what kind of speeds and hole shot are you getting out of your 21p tempest? What kind of speeds are everyone getting? Am I inline with my 52 mph (GPS) loaded to the gills with 2-3 guys?
