What would be a good lead core line for walleyes? Brand and lb test? Mainly fishing Minnesota lake. Thanks

I fish 10-30 fow and use Suffix 18lb. I run sealine lcx27's with 5 colors on each. It allows for some backing and a decent leader. Sinks 5-7ft per color(30ft) near 2 mph. I'm no expert so hopefully someone else can chime in but did mark some suspended fish at 15fow fishing 22 fow last week on Erie and let two colors out with a 6ft crawler harness and managed to land 2 eyes. So far I'm diggin the lead core walleye tactic.

I use mostly 18# for walleyes. If you go lighter, say 14#, the strand of lead is thinner. 18# and heavier all have the same amount of lead in them. The increased rating is achieved by making the dacron sheath over the lead heavier. This increases the overall diameter of the line, which in turn increases water resistance while trolling and causes the heavier line to sink less per foot. So for the optimum sink-rate 18# is the best choice. However, for salmon I use 27# because of their strength. Essentially there are only 2 sizes of the lead inside the line. Lighter than 18# test has the lighter lead and 18# test or heavier has the heavier lead.
