First off, look at your actuators owners manual, usually there is a procedure detailed. I found that investing in a simple power bleeder made the job very easy, units like this don't cost all that much http://www.motiveproducts.com/

I ended-up making an adaptor to connect the power bleeder to the actuator that my trailer had.

On my actuator there is a slot where you put a screwdriver and can move the actuator in and out, pumping the brakes.

works very well

I have used a ratchet strap between the coupler and the winch stand. Basically, you just need to pump the coupler a few times and then compress it. Start at the furthest brake bleeder and crack it open, then close. Go back to the coupler, pump and compress again. Repeat until you get clear fluid out with no bubbles. Then move on to the next caliper or cylinder. Refill the coupler with new fluid every two or three cycles.

It is easier with two people; one to run the coupler and one to open and close the bleeders. They have to be coordinated though.

Any method to put pressure on the coupler will work. On my old trailer the coupler pivoted instead of sliding in and out. I could just put a hitch stub in it and pump it up and down with that.
