I will start by saying I'm not usually a good writer so please bear with me. I would just like to bring a little attention to someone who I think should get a little more. As I start to prepair for a trip to South Dakota for stop 3 on the FLW Walleye Tour, I look at the points standings and there on the top is Brian Bjorkman. There are alot of good fisherman on the tour and I am learning from all of them that I can as I fish my fist year as a co angler. It seems that there are some names that get all the press and others that are consistant but don't go out of there way to find the spotlight. Nothing wrong with that just two different ways of doing things.
I met Brian in 2008 when I fished my fisrt tournament as a co and drew him as a day three pro. He had fished the first two days and not caught a fish. He could have packed it in and just went for a boat ride that day but he fished as hard or harder that day than anyone I have fished with yet. We did manage one fish and you would have thought it was the biggest fish either of us had ever caught. But records and tournament finishes are not why I think that he diserves a little more attention. I fished with him for one day but now that I am traveling and spending more time on the tour I run into him from time to time at the boat launch or at tournament meeting and he never fails to stop and say hi and ask how things are going. I fished with him once, he could just wave and walk on, but not Brian he always make time. Let me just say that I see him as just one of the great guys out there fishing these tournaments. But I don't feel bad saying that I hope he does well the rest of the year and into the future. |

Didn't he finish something like 3rd AOY 3-4 years ago?The whole Bjorkman family are good people, and great fisherman. Brian's got a couple of young-ones that seem to have been born with webbed feet. They'll be in the turnies pretty soon. Brother Eric is as good in the the boat, and their dad, Ken, is simply one of the best people I've met in fishing. Missed him at our tournament this spring, first time in years he has not made the trip. Keep in the top 10 the next tournament, and he'll be hard to beat. He is anyway! |

Brian is definatly one of the best live bait fisherman in the country and yes, he is down to earth and a very nice guy. Burr, forgot to mention another Bjorkman. Besides Ken, Brian, and Eric, there is also David, who is a great stick too. It would be AWESOME to see Brian win AOY, he deserves it.

First derby fishing as a co-angler, Devils Lake 2005, day 2 - get paired up with Brian and we head up to the NW corner. Wind picked up so the ride back to weigh in was a concern... How long do you stay versus heading back? Brian saw a nice one follow and from that point on he became determined until we had a nice Mid 20 lb weight in the boat. First time I'd been introduced to putting the kicker down and in gear to assist the bow mount to control the boat. Brian tells me to get in the back and pitch all the way to the cane... He worked a small wind blown cane bed picking up a nice fish slow and steady. All the while he's in the bow bobbing up and down on the bow mount working his rear off to stay in position. I obviously had the #1 position but sure enough he hooks one up and tells me it's a good one... Yep, just the kicker we needed to anchor a nice weight. About that time he realizes we better beat feet back to the weigh in. Sure enough we make it in time... One of my favorite co-angler days on the water and I have many.
Best of luck to you Brian! It's been fun to watch your tournament career rise to the top. Kurt |

I will 2nd all these kind words. I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days on the water with Brian and his brother and learned alot about fishing. There is no family more classy and nice than the Bjorkman family. The only bad thing I can say is time on the water with Brain goes way too fast.....because it is soo enjoyable. I'm rooting for you through years end!! Good luck the next couple of months!!!!
