Default T8 yamaha tiller

My T8 will not start because I can not get it to go out of gear. I think I lost the bolt that connects the shift cable linkage where it enters the couling. Will this cause the problem? Also does anybody know the size of the bolt I need? Thanks for the Help.

Thumbs up

That same problem happened recently to me. The bolt is probably laying in the housing as was mine. Just pull the electrical connections box away and you will probably find it. I put locktite on my bolt so would not happen again. Hope this helps. Kramer

I use my t8 strickly as a kicker, i disconnected the neutral safety switch so i can start it in gear. This way i can trim, start, and control speed all from my counsel. I have aremote controls w troll master at the counsel. No need to go to the back of the boat everytime to engage disengage motor when fishing. Just much more conveinent for me. Without the switch diabled i would always have to go to the back of the boat to put it in and out of gear then up to the whele to start it, just alot of needless back and forth imo.
