Default white bass western basin erie

Never seen so many white bass. Could not keep them off the spoons. Thought about switching to harnesses, but then figured the same thing would be happening with white perch. Any thoughts anyone? My buddy got to reel in his first plus 30 in. walleye, however.

If you're in a school of whities, the "best" advice is to move to a new area.
It's pretty easy to mark em on my Lowrance. so I keep searching til I found the good marks without the bad marks. Have to agree, the worst I've ever seen em in my 30 yrs on Lake Erie.

I agree with GR. Unless you are still catching the occasional walleye, just try moving. they do seem to be almost everywhere though. I pretty much pull harnesses exclusively this time of year and getting them on those as well. Not sure if pulling reefrunners would make a difference or not??

Default thanks

Talked to some other guys and they thought this was the most white bass they had seen many years. Hope it means the lake is healthy. I fear the blue green algae and have been looking for it to appear any time with the water heating up so fast.

I've gotten 30+ wb's on worm harnesses so that is not the answer. I've resorted to checking all lines every 5 minutes to see if worms are gone (real small ones won't pull flag down on planer board) or if the worm stealers have succeeded. If there are no walleyes in the mix, I move or try a higher speed. When they are real pesty, I've had them get hooked double as the harness was near the back of the boat, yikes!

When I couldn't get away from the whities, I have pulled out the cranks. The cranks will catch fish.....but I've found it still more productive to keep the meat out and deal with the whities.

We haven't had a lot of rain this past spring, or so far this summer, so it might not show up as bad as it has in the past two years where we had a ton of rain at one time, causing farmer's fields to "run off" and cities (by the lake) sewer systems to overflow into the lake.

I don't expect to see that thick pea soup like we have in the past two years....(my fingers are crossed)
