Default Question about Smartphone Apps

Reading about Juls' smartphone App for radar.....

Many of the apps I look at require, as part of their Terms & Conditions, allowing the App provider to know your geographic location, make calls on your account, etc.

1) Has this stopped you from loading Apps?

2) After loading Apps, have you ever had trouble with these kinds of things?

Red Cross First Aid App:

"This application has access to the following:
Services that cost you money:
directly call phone numbers
Your location:
coarse (network-based) location
Network communication"

In my opinion these handy Apps are nothing but a handy way for some third party to harvest data from unsuspecting people. I personally shy away from this sort of thing.

You can decide if you want to allown an app to know your location.

I only allow it for the RadarScope, Navionics, and Facebook Apps.

I have not had any problems with allowing it to know where I am.

Weather Bug knows where I am. It has warmed me a few times that I need to get off the water before the storm hits.

What is meant by it uses my phone to make calls.
