My boat and trailer weight 2000# ready to fish. Had radial tires on the trailer for a number of years. Last year due to a tire that was cut and lost air and a spare that I would not trust for the 600 miles to return home had to replace the tires..

Where I was the only option was bias tires and purchased a pair.

I typically push my boat into my garage to avoid hitting a support post. Had no problem pushing the rig with radial tires. It was extremely difficult to push the rig with the bias tires. Radial tires were at 35# pressure and bias tires at 45#.

The bias tires were purchased at Wallmart and they came with a five hole rim. Am a little leery of them but so far they have 3000 miles on them with no problems

Recstuff.com has some good info on bias vs. radial, also pretty good prices.

BoatUS' trailering magazine just had a comparison of bias and radial tires. Their advise was bias tires are better if you travel on really bad roads because they are more resistant to road hazards (the sidewalls are usually thicker). For good roads, radials are the preferred style.
