Default Yamaha F115 oil filter

Just have a question for the Yamaha techs out there. I don't have a marine dealer in my area, so I stopped by the local Yamaha ATV dealer to see if they had an oil filter for my 2004 F115. They sold me a 5GH-13440-20-00. Before I changed the oil I checked the online Yamaha parts catalogue and it calls for a 5GH-13440-00-00. The 20-00 is only recommended for up to the F70. They also had oil change packages that included the filter and the same package was recommended for both the F70 and F115. It didn't show what the oil filter in the package was. Should I hold off until I make it to a marine dealer or would the filter they sold me be okay? Thanks very much.

Parts catalogs are seldom up to date. You often cannot find out what the superseded PN is until you actually order it. Has happened many times to me.

The important number on the Yamaha filter is the 5GH-133440 . The -20- is likely just an updated version or from a different vendor run. ( I believe they all are from Denso) and the Marine dealer is likely to sell you the same one. Call first and find out. I always buy mine from the local Yamaha motorcycle dealer. Usually a couple bucks cheaper, but I have never paid much attention to those the last digits. Every few years they go up in number, never down.

What you for sure don't want is the 3VF-133440-XX-XX ,which is for the smaller motors.

The 20 filter will screw on but is a little shorter than the 00. I believe the dealer gave you the wrong filter

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to be passing by some Yamaha dealerships on my way fishing so I'll just hold off until I get the right filter.
