Default Co Angling AIM tournaments?

Has anyone ever co angled an AIM tournament? I am interested in trying to get a spot as a co angler at some point but I am not sure exactly what the series of events is that has to take place to do it. I have looked all over the AIM website and all I can find is the application the rules and cost but I don't know if I have to be a tournament angler locally or what to be qualified, or do you just turn in the app and money and hope you get drawn? I have not fished tournaments before but plan to when I finally get my bigger boat. I guess I am just really interested in tournament walleye fishing.

I have fished several AIM events as a co-angler.

What you need to do is fill out the registration form, pay your entry fee and wait to see if you get a spot. Resister as early as you can because the co-angler spots are filled on a first come first serve basis. New this year is that the entire field fishes all 3 days, which means you will get 3 days on the water in a pro's boat.

As far as what to expect on tournament days:
1) Bring rain gear
2) Bring a lunch/water
3) Bring a positive attitude

You are going to be fishing with some of the best walleye anglers in the world. You will see techniques you might not be used to. Just remember that the pro is the pro and if he says hook your crawler thru the 4th ring from the nose.....do it. Chose a tournament that is on a body of water that you are interested in if at all possible. It’s great to fish a body of water that you have fished for years with these guys. Chances are they will fish spots you never considered and use techniques that you may have never tried. It can be quite eye opening.

Default co-angler

I was lucky enough to be able to fish the AIM Championship last fall out of Akaska, SD. Had a great experience. Be ready to learn from some of the best. They will tell you exactly what they expect of you. You just send in your registration and money and wait. I actually was on a waiting list and due to a cancellation from another co-angler, was able to fish the tournament.
