When I first read your symptoms it sounded like you had dirty injectors then when you said it had sat for the last several years and was running on old fuel still and ran better once you ran the old gas out and put in new that eliminated the injector diagnosis. It still sounds like it isn't running as fast as it should be though. Other question is, how do you know if the seller didn't switch the prop he had it running at 50+ mph with a different and higher pitch prop he had sitting around and kept the faster prop for himself? Myself, it does sound like you should be running a 19P prop on your F200. I'd defininitely try out a 19p tempest.

As soon as I can find a tempest I will definetly be trying one...

As for the high Five, Better results than I expected... 49.7mph @ 5800rpms, the holeshot is retarded fast, and the engine sounds way better right from holeshot to full out... I can get 6000rpms with it but I have to trim too high to do so... Still think its not the right prop for the boat tho... Hopefully soon enough i will find a tempest that will fit!!!

The more I run this High Five the more i'm starting to like it!!! Just shy of 50mph consistently and incredible holding power... From mid throttle if you goose it it will throw you back in the seat and go!!! I'm sure I have found my new rough water prop!!!

I have a 2001 1900 PRO V SE/LTD. I am running a Yamaha Turbo Stainless Steel Turbo prop, which is 14 1/2 x 21 pitch. My rig screams fully trimmed with my wife aboard and a half a tank of gas all day long at at 54 mph while turning 4900 - 5200 rpm. I have replaced my gauges because the factory gauges were a dissaster. I verifed my speed with alternative methods only to verify speed because I had to replace all digital gauges that were original with the boat. Out of pocket $900.00. Your numbers sound poor at best. I would change props immediately and verify your speed gauge is working properly!!

All my speed is GPS off myfishfinders... My speedo on the boat read 50-54mph but I've yet to be in any boat with an accurate speedo, digital or analog.... What motor are you running??? I have some gauge issues too but mostly with my tach sticking when i shut it off and reading too high, a little love tap cures it up every time (I will replace it)... I'm going to have my engine put on a diagnostic computer to make sure no codes come up and that its running to its peak performance... The boat likes that high five, i'm actually very impressed with the numbers and the overall performance of it... I'm going to be fishing some bigger water soon and really want to see how the 5 blade bites in rough water...

You need to try different props until - when you floor it you can easily hit 6,000 rpm. i.e. you will not be getting your maximum performance until you get your engine running at the 6000 rpm mark.

Down size the pitch to at least a 19 and possibly an 18 or 17.

Also, remember, that any rooster tail coming off of your boat is just water that the motor is pushing into the air and is not pushing your boat.

So, you should never have the motor trimmed up so much that you are pushing a rooster tail out. It is possible that the motor may be mounted a bit high.

With that boat and motor, you really should not have any issue in running 50 mph with the right prop and the right engine setup.

By the way, if when running wide open, you are only running a bit over 5K, you are truly "lugging" the motor by using a prop that has too much pitch or diameter or both.

Good luck

The biggest hurdle I face with trying a bunch of props is that none of the dealers up here want to let you try one out, they want the $700+ first, and if it doesn't work then they want a restocking fee... I can't for the life of me find a used 19P tempest here anywhere... Now please somebody correct me if I'm wrong here, Does Yamaha not use a merc bottom end??? The high five slid right on no hubs no nothing and I believe he told me it was off a merc... so why do merc dealers tell me that i need these fancy hub kits??? I want to try a tempest but to drop that kind of money on something that might not work (no offense to those who are recommending it)... I guess I'll end up having to bite the bullet and buy a new one!!!

Get ahold of Propmann. . . . He probably will let you try one, he's very good at that and if that still doesn't work for you he will exchange with another prop till you find the one you want. . . . As for the rooster tail, it is not all wasted power. . . With my boat with a 19 tempest, I get the best speed at near top trim and it throws a roostertail about engine high, if I go too high it shoots even higher and loses speed but trim back down a bit and speed comes back up there's still a roostertail. . . All boats and props are different, some will have roostertails with certain props with certain loads at full speed. The Tepmest actually is a merc prop but you use a Yamaha hub kit. Not sure about the high 5 u have on now.
