Default Stratos 1760 DV

I would really like to speak with someone that owns or has owned a stratos 1760 dv. Please message me or feel free to post your opinions on the board, either works great. Thank you in advance.

Default stratos

been in a 386 but never a dv1760. the only thing i dont like about our boat is the water that comes in the rod storage not alot of water just enough to have to make sure let it dry out and drain it good when done using it. same probelm in the 386. my rods and reels have never rusted nor has my tackle but just a caution warning

I really want a smaller boat. I share my dad's warrior with him so a smaller boat makes sense. That way we either him or I (who ever has smaller group) can take the small boat and the other can take the big boat. Sometimes fishing below the dams the 19 footer is a pain in the butt, not too mention that 1760 probably weighs nearly 1000 pounds less (when fully loaded) where as the 386 or 385 are close to the same size as pop's boat. I really want glass but think i might end up with a tin boat. (jock strap time)

Personally I would go with a good tin boat long before I bought a Stratos! Any Lund or Alumacraft would be better than a Stratos. A buddy of mine has a 386 and it's got spider cracks all over and rides really rough, and it's only a couple years old with 150 hours on it.

I have received mixed reviews from Stratos owners but nothing specifically regarding the 1760. I have talked with several people, on the water, that were very pleased with them and one that had buyers remorse. As for the spider cracks, that can happen to any boat depending on what went wrong on the day the gel coat was applied. I have seem that on nearly all makes of glass boats...won't stratos take care of it for him? Now as for ride...very subjective but I have never ridden in a glass boat that has (in my opinion) not had a better ride than any tin boat I have ridden in. Now before you ask...Yes I have ridden in many boats. (rangers, skeeters, warriors, yarcraft, lunds, crestliners, alumacrafts, spectrum (ugg), cajan, champion, tracker, Starcraft) this has been on all sorts of waters to...Western Basin Erie, Huron, Mille Lacs, and all the reservoirs in So dak.
This has led me to really want to buy a glass boat but my choices are very limited. I want a smaller boat with a walk thru. I do not think there is a boat made that I have not checked out. If not the 1760 dv, then more than likely tin will be in.

I am a fan of parts of the 1750 reatta and parts of the 1760 angler, blend them together and I would go that route. Right now I would have to pick the reatta over the angler becuase of the additional space behingd the wheel. Right now it seems like everyone and their dog has a ranger on oahe...I like to be different...but they are an awesome boat no doubt.

The 1760 Tuffy has a good reputation and is available with a walk through I believe. I have nothing to offer to help you on the Stratos, but thought I'd mention it in case you hadn't considered the Tuffy.

I logged on and got a tuffy brochure a couple of weeks ago, i have read plenty about them on a musky website. The narrow beam coupled with the insane amount of bow casting deck are the only draw back for me. (that being said, riding that far back has to make for a smooth ride) The nearest Tuffy dealer is a long ways away but the 1760 is still in play. They look and sound like a fantastic boat. I like the 25 inch transom on the tuffy (and rangers) compared to the 20 inch on the Stratos. I have found it difficult to get accurate pricing on a Tuffy and like the stratos 1760 I do not personally know anyone who has run one. I have seen a couple of the larger tuffy models on the water on Oahe but have not had a chance to talk with the them.

Yar,
I have taken some rides in this particular boat in various types of water and will suggest that you will find it will work very well for your needs.

I also agree with the previous post - tough to beat the ride of a glass boat with a good hull compared to any aluminum boat.

If you haven't looked, take a look at the new line of Larson Fishing boats.
There was a recent report on the 17 foot Larson which was very favorable.
