On lake Michigan Perch fishing Friday. I have a Impact 1775 with a Merc four stroke. Boat was fully loaded, 4 guys, full fuel and both live wells full. (oh yeah!). I have seen RPM discussions and know nothing about it. We were running just over 4000 rpm at 26-28 mph on way in. In simply looking at the gage, I thought that might be high. Is that a good range? TIA.

Are you asking about the rpm or the speed? I typically cruise with an outboard at 2/3 to 3/4 of WOT rpm (waves permitting), so 4000-4500 rpm sounds very normal. At those rpm with a 115, I'd expect 25-35 mph, depending on load and boat size.

That is my exact question. Does the RPM at the speed I was going make sense. Not very mechanically inclined and just checking. Thanks for answer.

I would think that is good, rpm and speed wise. Sounds good to me especially with the full livewells and 4 guys.
