What motor are they running on the boat George? Do you know if they have tested it with a 75 etec yet? I know the performance of the F70 and 75 merc were similar due to the large weight difference. I am just curious to see if the 75 etec does a little better?

Howdy,

E-Tec's stole the Lindberg baby. Get a Suzuki 4-Stroke!

Take care,

The boat will have the 75 E-Tec, very excited to be able to run this combination.

Can anyone confirm that the ETec pushes more power than their 75 label - definitely more torque - again a weight difference of 60 pounds to the Yam F70... also very curious to see the results and hopefully have some comparisons published (I have to admit i'm biased since i'm running a F70 for 3 reasons = weight on a back heavy boat, the fisherman friendly tiller handle and the legendary reliability)
Looks like another 2 vs 4 stroke confrontation (re: Yam SHO bass motor vs all others)
Have fun, guys... i live too far to even contemplate joining you - j

I've heard that the 75 E-TEC actually performs very closely to their 90 (same block), so I suspect it is a pretty "hot" engine. I think it would be a great choice for boats rated up to 90 because of the weight savings over a 75/90 4 Stroke. I've read that the tiller handle isn't as nice as the others though, so that could make a difference for a back troller.

The F70 is definitely the lightweight in the group and the merc 75 is a pig compared to that, but bigger displacement and more torque. I was just thinking that the Etec was in the middle for weight and would do a little better performance wise? Not a big 4 stroke fan, but would consider one for a tiller boat like this if it didn't weigh too much?? Just struggling between this boat and a 618T. If they would wake up and re-rate the 618T for a 115, then I would be all over that! I am sure they probably won't though.....

George, put a bug in Ranger's ear. You know that a 115HO Etec on a 618T would be the ultimate setup!!!!!!

If anyone knows of performance numbers with the 75 etec, I would be curious to hear them???

I willing to bet that based on current USCG ratings for boats there is no way to rate this for 115 HP. They would have to change the dimensions of the boat to affect the calculation and then you are right back in the same pickle that only Warrior has found a way around.
I sure agree with you though on how sweet a set up that would be!

If Warrior can do it why can't everyone else? What do they do to get around the rules? That's the biggest downfall to tiller boats in my mind, they are under powered unless you go with a 20' boat.

What boats will be on hand for Testrides other than the 175T?
