They get by with it because their pro tiller steering system is classified as remote steering.

We will have a 620, 1860 angler and 1850 Reatta all powered by Evinrude at the site.

Why don't other boat manufacturers do the same thing?

Lawyers and potential liability. I've talked to Ranger, don't count on this.

Currently as stated we will have 175T/1850 Reata/1860 angler and 620.
If you would like to see something else let me know and we will see what we can do. |

Got to visit my dealer and see a 175T for myself. Pretty nice layout. Was rigged with a 75etec and a vantage. The guy I talked to ran it at a demo ride and said he got it to 35-37mph? Not sure if that is gps, but said he was impressed how both the motor and boat performed. Still not sure between this boat and a 618T? After you run this one George, give me your thoughts on a comparison?

I don't think the 175t was ever designed for larger bodies of water, but would be a great rig if you were on the move a lot and mostly hit smaller waters. Good layout overall. |

BW, I think both of the boats your looking at are great fishing platforms to be sure. The 618T obviously is similar to my 620T and the 175T reminds me of my old 681. That said, one of the things that I would really question is the freeboard of the boats. When I went from the 681 to the 620T the difference was huge, like going from a bass boat to a deep V. Knowing your current rig, I think you may be surprised by the difference if you did the 175T. If you look at the Ranger website and see the pics with 2 guys in the boat it really illustrates my point. While the 175T has a great layout and a nostalgic feel, aside from holeshot (which may not even be an issue with the 90 Etec) I don't see the benefit unless your looking to seriously downsize. You may also want to look at other motor options (heresy, I know) but the 618T would be great with the 90 Opti or even the new Suzuki 90 which gets rave reviews. I believe Tim Merten can put the Titan on the new Suzuki now so it may be perfect if you decide to forgo the E-Tec. Plus, if you do go with the 90 E-Tec you may find the boat difficult to prop. I know from extensive conversations that I had with one of the boats better known owners that he had to do a lot of experiments to try to get the RPMs up on that motor. Even Propmann has struggled to do it. Good luck! Take care, Ruddiger |

Thanks for the advice gentlemen. Kind of reinforced what I was thinking also. Looks like about a 7 grand difference between the 175T and a 618T if I were to order a new one. Most likely will be looking used though. Hard to justify that kind of money I guess. Sad to think that a 618T rigged up is almost what I paid for my Reata with a 150etec and a T8!!!! Still can't quite figure that one out??? My son and I seem to be the only ones fishing anymore and we do a few family outings a year with the girls so we will see how it goes. The sad thing is my bro in law has had a 618T with a 90 etec for 5 years and I have never been in the thing!!!! Guess I should make an effort to go fishing with him, huh?
