Default Round 2

Adjusted the HDSI transducer some and got the previous holes filled in this morning.

Thanks again everyone for the help, tips and suggestions. It took me about 3 hours to complete the job and I'm very optomistic about the location but know it will still need to tuning.

Unfortunately I won't get the boat out today and then have to work the next 9 days. I hope to get it in the water after work sometime soon so I can see what kind of returns I will be getting. For now, here are a few pictures of how I mounted the HDSI by the livewell pickups. I'll post some snap shots of the graph once I get in the water.

Scott, I don't know if it's in your plans yet or not, but I was still having the ducer flip up when up on plane so that when I was back off and ready to get readings, it wouldn't be accurate. You may have already done it, but by looking at the angle you've got it at now, it looks good, but if I had to mount another one, I wouldn't hesitate to put a screw right through the middle of the plastic and the middle slot on the metal bracket. Made all the difference in the world and less stress and frustration, too.

I'll definitely put a screw through it to keep from flipping up. Wanted to make sure I have it in the right spot and then lock it down. I raised it up about a 1/2 inch from where I had it last night after looking at the pics from you guys. Did a search on here for "HDSI Ranger" and got a couple good visuals.

Looking forward to testing it out.

Thanks,

Interesting transducer /transom saver..

Ill be interested in how this works out, as all Ive ever heard about is rigging them up a step. I have a HDSI on a 1750 crestliner rigged at the bottom of the hull, and have never had problems with it flipping up, and get full readings to 40 mph.

I recently rigged twin (left and right) HDSIs to me new Skeeter WX 1850 up a step, but if they dont perform, Im making the change also..

10 lb,
I used the transducer mounting plate and cut a piece to fit the area. Then attached it with the two stainless screws and 3M 5200 adhesive / sealant. Used the 3m on the cable stays as well when running the ducer cable.

Default Round 2 Results, Looking for feedback

OK, so I got out tonight for a little while to see how the new transducer location would work. Overall, its a lot better but still a few small kinks to work out.

It seems as if I am getting some turbulent water on the right side and the left side is darker, especially when I increase speed.

I was able to hold bottom readings 40+ MPH and the ducer didn't flip up.

I had it set in auto depth mode and sometimes when I was going slow (1.5 - 4 mph), the bottom range would read up to 400ft - 800ft but the bottom depth was still around 8-15 FOW. Occassionally, the bottom reading would jump to 200+ and then come back down to what my 787c2 was reading...

Anyway, here are the snaps from tonight. Appreciate your feedback as I make the next move to dial it in. Lower it some? move right? what do you think fellas?

Default More snaps

Here's a few more snaps from tonight to critique ducer location / graph settings. When I was running 40+ I forgot to change the chart speed so it's only running at the 5 setting. Also removed the water column to try a different view. Was happy I at had bottom readings.

Looks good to me...my big thing was to make sure it was level with the world 'cause that's the one adjustment that would be the biggest pain. IF your ducer didn't move up and down from your previous post, which looked good, I'd leave it where it is and call 'er done.

I'll check it to make sure its level on the boat. I assume this could be the reason why the left side is darker and I'm getting turbulance on the right side?

Any insight as to why the auto depth range jumped around?
