What is the late rule on a majority of big water tournament lakes, e.g. Great Lakes? Anything over 1 second and your DQ'd? A pound a minute up to 15 minutes and then DQ'd? Other rules? Curious as I've only fished a couple derbies on the big water. My thought - perhaps the organizers/committee allow big water anglers a buffer seeing how many things can go awry yet you cannot allow an unfair advantage either. Tough one but in the end you are all fishing under the same rules and you SHOULD know them. Time zones have tripped up more than one angler in their day....
Pre-fishing with local talent. Does this diminish the accomplishment in any way? After all isn't finding the "right" fish most of the challenge to pre-fishing? It's not like there are a lot of different techniques coming into play at this time of year. But then again this falls under the same category as team pre-fishing. Not really an even playing field for those who haven't made the connections due to lack on longevity in the game. Obviously these questions came to mind after the recent event out of Lorain and watching the wonderful videos which are much appreciated, by the way.... Let's keep this civil as I know in the past some people cannot resist the temptation to flame away from the comfort of their keyboards. |

Late is late..and rules are rules. Any circuit has rules for the entire circuit....not a particular body of water for being late. They are the same for everyone. Things can go wrong anywhere, not just the great lakes. That is the nature of professional fishing. Things happen and the guy able to survive with the most weight wins.
Pre-fishing with a local to me is the same as getting a tip from the bait shop? Info is info. The harder you work the more info you get. The guys that put in more time have more info. Guys that have been to the location 10 times over the years have more info than a rookie there on his first trip. All part of the game. Gotta pay your dues. Info doesn't mean you will catch the fish or find them if they move.
