This is the forth tdd that this happened to this year. Twice when i had a fish in the net and twice just setting up the gear. I have twenty more of these...would you trust them? I haven't contacted rapala but plan too. Would you glue the lip back in and fish? Is this common...never happened to me before. The lures are 2-3 years old. I always store my cranks indoors.

You are not alone...i have had a couple of these things break. Obviously a very poor design from a company that usually makes a quality product. I take them back for exchange to make them aware of the issue. Once again it would be nice if someone from the company read these posts. This is a powerful tool

I believe you can mail them into rapala for an exchange if they break.

I've had one or two of the lips come loose, but on the husky jerks, or origional floater. doesn't happen too often, and just glued them back in.
they weren't really broken, just that the lip came loose. |

Unless the same poster is hitting several forums, this seems to be a growing problem.
I'm wondering if mass production and the big business attitude hasn't caused these problems??? Al

My understanding is that the current manufacturing plant is using a different material for the lip and a different process to mount the lip in the lure. It is apparent that neither is as stable and long lived as the previous process.
I suppose that one option is to move to a different vendor if you don't like the product. Take all of your other rapala's back and get your money back if new in the box. REW |

I have had the same thing happen on tail dancers. It's not a lure I use very often so I didnt think much of it until I saw this. wonder how many fish swim away with a tail dancer in the mouth and the fisherman gets nothing but the diving lip back.
