Looking for a little help, there is a demo explorer that I am looking at with only 45 hours. Havent gone to the dealer but have a few connections there through work and what not so not worried about the deal that will be good, but rather a few about the boat i know that through looking on lund it says it has the same livewell as the Pro V so once again not a concern. The questions come in when looking into battery storage and ride. Most the people around were i am have Pro V's and or other makes so haven't seen or been around many of the explorers any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

Engine hours? I've had my Lund two years, used it heavily, and I don't think I have 45 engine hours on it.
I've heard nothing but good things about the big Explorers. |

I have a 2011-2010 Explorer and have been very pleased. The batteries are stored under the center rod locker (2ea.) and the starting battery in the back compartment. If the demo does not have the aft jump seat conversion I would want the dealer to order for me. When in the down position it makes a large casting area. I have the pro ride seats and really like them over the standard seats. I had a 1700 Fisherman for 11 years and the 2010 handles the rough water much better. For an all-around boat it would be hard to do better than this. It has so much storage that I forget where things are at so its like an easter egg hunt every time I go out. I do not know how many are out there but you hardly ever see them for sale which says a lot.

The explorer is a fantastic boat with basically the same layout as the pro v which makes it one of the best fishing boats going (if you like windsheilds lol). Its not gonna ride as good as a 20 ft fiberglass boat but neither will a pro v for that matter. I believe I know which boat your referring to and have an idea what there asking for it and you will not find better value for your money. That boat already has a vantage, terrova, and a couple hds's all for about 3000 less then I paid for an 18fter with a 175 opti in 2004 and it had a crap TM and sonar that I had to replace when I bought it. I've bought a couple boats from this dealer since 2010 and they've been fantastic. The boat service dept is second to none should you need anything. If your in toon town then your only a 2 1/2 hours away so it sounds like you should just go to Nipawin on a saturday and take that boat fishing for a morning to get a feel for it. The ramp is only 4 minutes from the dealer.

you are right you probably know the boat that I am taking about well it is the one at Nipiwan I talked to them a little there yesterday. The worst thing is I work the same hours as them as I work for a dealership in s'toon and can't really get up there I also don't know enough about the explorers to pull the trigger with out really seeing it and still doing some more research. For myself it comes down to something like this boat or looking at ordering a Pro-V which I have been assured a good price and evinrude engine which I think I would prefer. This boat just caught my eye as there are a few things I like about it.

I have not been in an EXPLORER this size so I can't help you much on the ride. But I can tell you I have a smaller 2008 Explorer Sport. If I wanted I could put five batteries in this one. I could put another one up front just behind the two that are there now for my 24 volt system. There is another compartment there with an opening for wires where a person could run a 36 volt set-up. If I wanted I could put another one right along side my starting battery also. As one post stated earlier there is so much storage in these things you have to go through it once a month to see what you have. Another reason why I leave things on shelves in the garage unless I know I will be using it that day. This has been a great boat for me and I fish big water from time to time also. There have been days when I wished I had a 2010 but we get by.
Enjoy your new rig whatever it may be. |

I meant to touch on your live well comment. I did not realize they finally put the same system in the Explorers. I have also heard the new 2012 smaller Pro V's they came out with do not have the upgraded livewell system either. Not sure if this is fact but heard you had to buy the bigger pro v's to get the better system. Thought this was not such a great move by Lund.
