Default Laser II vs. Tempest Plus -OR- Which should be on my Verado?

Currently, I have a Laser II (21P) on my 175 Verado. Just breaking in the engine and I can literally blow the prop out almost at will. Any trim registering greater than 2 or 3 on the gauge while accelerating and I build revs but no speed until I trim back down. Once cruising, I've trimmed up to 5 or so before airing out the prop. Oh yeah... Engine height is set at the typical factory standard of the second hole down from the top.

Even at this early stage, I can tell this Laser II is NOT the prop I'll end up running. With a kicker and a Terrova, I'd like to set the main engine up for top end.

Been hearing good things about the Tempest Pluss. Pitch being equal, which is the more "aggressive" prop? The Tempest Plus or the Laser II?

OR... Which Merc prop would you recommend for a top end application on a 1875 Pro V with all the goodies?

Your going to want to run the tempest and I will most likly be a 19 pitch. Another Good prop is the new Powwertech RKR3 19 it compares to a tempest. The laser 2 props are just a glorified aluminum prop with alittle more rake. The tempest is alot more agressive prop.

Hmmm.... Three out of three say Tempest.... Interesting!

As mentioned, I'd like to dial this boat in for top end. I don't see a whole lot of tubing or skiing behind the Pro V, if any at all. Trolling is the job of the Terrova and kicker. However, I don't want to sacrifice rough water performance either.

All that said, will the 19 pitch be the hot ticket? Could I go for more pitch without dropping the rev's too far?

Note:

Performance thus far with the Laser II is a top speed (quick blast) of 52.1 @ 6000 rpm. But that's johnny-on-the-spot with the trim switch at every single change in the water's surface.

In my trials the Enertia was 2-3 mph faster but a lot looser,i opted for the control and ride.Half tank fuel 2 adults and gear 53mph GPS with total control,2008 175V-rod on a 1800 Superhawk hope that helps.Chico.

Don't know if this is any help.......my '12 1775 w/150 vrod has the 19 pitch Laser II. Have hit 50 during break in, and hole shot is sweet....no blow out what so ever. Sweet spot on trim for me is 8.

Default prop

I would give that Power tech rk prop a try. It has a great hole shot and has a tone of bite. Top end will be good also.
