Default Arkansas Summer Walleye

I set out to learn how to catch a few walleye in Arkansas. I have used this site for some of the information and still learning. We have several deep clear lakes that hold some decent walleye. Very few locals even fish for them. A fish that eats so well I felt needed a little effort on my part. Any way here is a couple photos from this weekend. Used crawler harness and they will catch every fish in the lake along with walleye. Caught several KY bass, big bream, and cat fish.

Hi Y Fish

If you wouldn't mind, what lake were you fishing? Reason I'm asking is because right now, I spend some time in Fayetteville (Beaver Lake) and am considering making a permanent move in the not distant future.

PM me if you want to keep it private.

Thanks

I was on Ouachita but I hear Beaver has great walleye fishing. On Arkansas game and fish web site they have a fishing report and I notice they list the walleye bite is good alot of the year. You have several good lakes close to NW Arkansas. Bull Shoals, Norfork, Table Rock, and Greers Ferry. I am going to fish Norfork next week. Not many locals fish for walleye here in Arkansas. I am not sure why other than like me they just do not know how, but I am learning. NW Arkansas is sure a nice area I live in the Arkansas River Valley. We have some great fishing, but to catch walleye I must drive 2 hour in either direction.

Thats awesome. i go down to oauchita every year. (trying to catch a big striper out of kayak) the guide i went with to learn how to fish for stripers said theres huge walleye in that lake. he stated the big ones hang back behind striper schools and gorge themselves on injured shad once stripers move on. anyone else heard of this

I have heard that as well. Here is a nice one I caught last year on Ouachita. They get much larger. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...Striper003.jpg

Fished Bull Shoals three times last year. And once this year. The walleye can be tricky down there. The main thing is you need wind on the lake. If the lake is dead calm don't even go out. Also I caught more fish at dead noon than at night this year. Last year I caught many from trolling at night. It's taken me a couple of years to figure out there patterns. And yes many locals will not spend the time on the walleye, they mostly fish for bass which is great for me.
