Default HDS networking ?

I have a HDS 10 and 7 networked with ethernet cable from SS module. I thought I could view each sonar (transom and trolling motor) seperately on each unit, but whenever I switch one or the other unit's source, it switches both units. Is that correct that I can only view one regular sonar at a time on both? I do see I can put bow sonar up and then split screens and have downscan sonar up front, but console will also be bow sonar too.

You are correct.

I'm not sure what your question really is. I have a 7 and an 8. 7 on the terrova and 8 on the transom sonar pucks. I am able to view either source on either unit but not at the same time although I can view 7/tm sonar and 8/transom sonar at the same time from the individual units. Is that confusing? Not sure I explained that well. Seems right to me.

3M,
If I understand you right , you can view your 7 sonar on the bow(TM sonar) and you 8 sonar at the console(transom sonar), reading the 2 different transducers on their separate receivers? I can't do that unless I unhook the ethernet cable. Both my 7 & 8 will switch to only one transducer, whether I change it on the 7 or 8.
I believe LL understood my question, I hope.

Default Networking / not networking

When you have the networking selected, the units that are sharing 2d (200/83) use the same transducer. You can select which one but all of them change to whichever ever one is selected.

When you have the networking UNselected, then each unit must look to its own attached transducer. For two units I would have one set on 200 and the other set on 83 to avoid interference.

You do not have to have the network selected to access structure scan, just the ethernet cable attached. It is somewhat misleading because once the units are plugged into the LSS-1/2 you do have a functioning ethernet network that works whether or not the networking is selected. A better identification of the Networking option would be "Share 2d", meaning everybody share the same transducer.

I have three units plugged into the LSS-1. All of them use the structure scan. Two of them have the networking selected and share the 2d 200/83 transducer on the transom. The other one does not have the networking selected and uses the transducer on the trolling motor and structure scan.

LWinches,
o.k. that makes sense to me. Thank you. I will play around with unselecting the network because I would like to see the individual sonars at times.

You also have to push menu menu then network and go into data sources , sonar, and make sure your depth and temp are set to local not global. You can't show both sonar at the same time too much info for the unit to process.

Leave them set to "this unit". The unit will use whichever transducer is slected for the data. As stated above, all you need to do is to unselect "network sonar" to view transducers independently.
