Anyone know where the fuse is that blows when the battery cables get reversed?
Should know better to work on electrics at 11:00pm and with a flashlight. ![]() Had the positive cable hit the negative battery post and took out several fuses, found the ones for the T-8 kicker, but all the ones on the F150 look good Must be another fuse somewhere?? Wiring diagram leaves much to be desired. tia Al

http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Ya...202/parts.html Parts 32-35 Also follow your positive lead coming off your battery to the motor you may very well have an inline fuse in a waterproof holder. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/assets/s...07-14_1372.pdf

Turns out it was one of the two 50 amp fuses on the motor, also turns out my $9.95 on sale at home dept VOM has died without notice.
Going back to Fluke or Sperry...but should have checked the meter with a known source..duh. Thanks all. Al

Allen,
Check the batteries and fuse in your 9.95 meter. That may be all that is the issue. By the way, about the only reason that meters fail is that the meter has been exposed to voltages and currents that they should not have been exposed to. For example testing a circuit that has voltage on it, with the meter in the ohms position will pretty well blow any meter. Using a very low current setting on a high current circuit will also blow most meters. Or using the meter with a very low voltage setting on a high voltage circuit may also blow the meter. Good luck and be safe REW |
