10# Fireline on most of my reels. I spooled my Dad's with EZ Braid from Spiderwire. Cheaper than FL and seems to have many of the same properties. Got a snag on it Sunday and just about broke the rod pulling 12 feet of weeds out of the bottom. Line never broke. So I would recommend either. They are very sensitive and are very strong for their diameter. Less "singing" through the guides than PP.

Disadvantages. Neither are invisible, so I often tie a 3-4 foot Fluoro leader using uni-uni knot (or barrel swivel). Also it will fray over time, so I cut back 4 feet or so every weekend of use. Transfer front to back off reels for the next season to get 2 yrs use.

Thumbs up Another vote for PP. . .

I have used 30/8 PowerPro with a 4-foot 10-lb. fluorocarbon leader for the past several years. All that I ever change is leaders when I occasionally break off on a snag.

The PowerPro has more than paid for itself during the years that I've used it--six or seven years ago one 150-yard spool of PP filled my two linecounters (with backing). Because it doesn't degrade in sunlight like monofilament, it is just as strong now as when installed.

The color of the PP did fade from dark gray to almost white, but the fish don't seem to mind. . .

I run 12# Berkely Big Game. I catch a lot of Pike and Catfish when trolling cranks and I've yet to be bit off. I respool every spring and it costs less than $4 per reel.

X2...Same diameter as 10# XT so you can use the same dive curves and I bought a 1000 yd spool for $9. Spooled up two trolling rods and have had no issues. I've pulled some very big cats out of some nasty snags with big game as well so I know it's tough.

I use 12# big game for making crawler harnesses and the such. Its a great line for a great price.

12 lb Stren. same diameter as 10 lb XT, lasts for three years. Good stuff.

Don't like superlines for trolling cranks... lose too many fish.

I like 12 Sensation. I don't like braid for boards. Lost too many fish with the no stretch properties.

12 lb Berkley Big Game is a wonderful line to use for trolling and it is relatively inexpensive.

No need for a leader or extra knots with this line either.
