Default 1850/1860 owners - where to put 36V?

I have an 1860 angler, love the boat but can't fish effectively in winds north of 15-20 mph with the 80 terrova. I want to go 36v, any suggestions from your boats (or ones you have seen) about where to keep the 3rd Tm battery? I don't mind giving up some storage space, honestly now I have more than I use.

Default In the floor

I was told by the dealer that you can put all 3 batteries in the floor under the rod locker on the 1860. Haven't seen it with my own eyes though.

You obviously don't fish muskies.

Not uncommon at all for musky guys to be out casting in that sort of blow. Wave height has as much to do with the size/depth of the lake as the wind, so no, 15 mph winds do not equal automatic 2 footers.

There was an article in a musky magazine a few years ago about fishing Eagle Lake Ontario in extreme conditions - 40 mph+. Multiple drift socks, anchors, big motor, etc. I'm not looking to do that, but casting in 15-20 mph is really not a big deal.

Gas simply has the reserve and control for working this water - that is tough to "Comfortably" match with electric.
Electrics offer precision and features that gas doesn't. And I believe noise can matter to fish at times - electrics are obviously a lot quieter.

I'm not looking to debate how I fish. You don't want to fish that way, i really couldn't care less. Looking for people who have experience with adding the battery to the boat, specifically where they've placed it and how they like the location.

Are the batteries under the rod locker on the 1860? I guess in an 1850 they are tucked under in the very front compartment and a guy could put another one in front of those two where the dry storage is? Not sure how they layout is in your boat? Is there a way to put another one in back next to the starter and do some different wiring? I am sure someone has had to put a 36V on one of these boats?? Sorry I don't have the answer, but someone will chime in......good luck!

Exactly. There isn't room for a third battery next to the first two, so options seem to be main port compartment, part of rod locker, smaller starboard compartment, or running wire and a battery all the way to the back. Talking with my dealer, it can be done, but I'd love to hear any first- or second-hand experiences about what trade offs they saw.

I was told by an engineer at the Ranger factory that there is room for 3 group 31 AGM batteries in the battery compartment under the center rod locker. I asked him if he was sure and he said yes.

Hey DD

Not quite sure of the compartment variances with the 1850 to the 2050(which I have) but in mine the 3- 31series for my set up are under the jump seat in the rear of the boat. Tight but they fit.
