OK. I am looking for the best ultralight spinning reel in the less than $50 range. What do you guys say? I plan on using PowerPro for the reel.

Pflueger's Trion is a nice choice that fits the bill. I have 3 spooled up for fishing the back pond. Put the Trion on a 5 ft ugly stick and it's great to fish with. Crappie, gills, occsionally a large smallie and the rigs handle it well. No need to worry about losing a fortune if a kid or beginner is a little rough either!

Hi Packer Backer, I prefer the Shimano Sahara in that price range. I use the 1000 size for walleye fishing. They are on sale with Cabelas now for $59.00. Have a great year.

Thank you,

I first bought this based on TBOMN (Joe) recommendation. I then bought three more. You can get it at Sportman's Warehouse for the Cabela's price, so you save on shipping.

The first one's came with a spare spool, no more. You could get the upgraded one for 49.99 too.

Great reel.

Every year Cabela's would have $10 off on this reel, I would buy them at that time, I have not seen the sale any more. A friend of mine went down last year and bought it at Sportman's Warehouse.

Hi Glen, I really like the 1000 size for jigging and bobber fishing. I just picked up 2 of them for my oldest son and his guest for our August 4th Canadian trip. Great to hear from you.

Thank you
