For a real big walleye adventure try Montana. Fort Peck Reservoir in northeast Montana, south of Glasgow, is great for big walleyes, and is well known for its' fish diversity; trophy sized walleyes, 5 pound plus sauger, big lake trout, big salmon, and smallmouth bass that exceed 5 pounds. Tiber Reservoir, also in Montana, south of Chester, is also known for big fall walleyes, lake trout, and rainbow trout. I lived in Montana for 50 years and know the State well. Feel free to let me know if you wish to have my personal telephone number for more in depth information on both fisheries? Good luck to you in your quest for big walleyes.

I would second the Red River, Pine Falls area. I live just outside of DesMoines and we make the trip up every fall in October. Make a quick trip Friday thru Tuesday and its not a bad drive. Typically not a numbers game but definitely big fish. Also there are a lot of ducks and geese flying in the area that time of year. Hear lots of shooting in the distance.
